Because behind the door, as reported in the Gazet van Antwerpen, there are two “slightly strong” men waiting for him. “They asked me about Inez, my daughter,” the fifty-year-old tells our Flemish colleagues. If he realizes that something is wrong, Jan unfortunately doesn’t have time to close the door. His two visitors intervene and force their entry. “They immediately started hitting me which made me fall to the ground. »

The nightmare begins for the man who is watched by one of the thieves while the other searches every nook and cranny in search of money. “The strongest man grabbed me by the throat and said, ‘I’m going to kill you.’ He repeated this about ten times,” he remembers.
If he tries to defend himself, in particular by smashing a flower pot on the head of his hostage taker, Jan can do nothing against the two men. “While one held me down, the other stomped on my face.” He finally managed to escape after about fifteen minutes.

Thanks to the help of his neighbors, he was able to contact the police who quickly arrived on the scene to arrest the two suspects. A story that ends “well” even if Jan still has the after-effects of his evening of horror on his face, but not only that… “I slept at my daughter’s house last night and I will sleep there again tonight. I’ve lived here for 30 years, my wife died two years ago, so I live here alone. » And he still wonders why he was targeted.
