Manchester united: Ronaldo back, everything back to normal?

Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo will return to the squad for the final pre-season friendly against Rayo Vallecano

Cristiano Ronaldo will return to United’s squad for the final pre-season friendly against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, manager Erik ten Hag has said.

Ronaldo’s future at United has been the subject of speculation after British media reported he had told the club he wanted to leave so he could play in the Champions League. This year, Manchester will play the Europa League, a second category competition.

The Portugal international, who has a year left on his contract with Manchester United, did not join the squad for the pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia and was not included in the squad for the loss 1-0 in a friendly against Atletico Madrid in Oslo on Saturday.

“Tomorrow he will be in the squad. We will see how long he can play,” Ten Hag told the club’s website after Ronaldo posted a training photo on Instagram.

If Ronaldo plays Sunday against Rayo, it would be his first game under new boss Ten Hag.
