Manchester United became the first club to keep 500 clean sheets in the Premier League with a 3-0 win over Everton on Sunday.

Alejandro Garnacho made headlines with an incredible acrobatic goal early in the game. Goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial gave the team a valuable win at a hot Goodison Park.

However, United had to hold firm at certain stages of the game, particularly in the first half when Everton were pushing for an equalizer.

Kobe Mainu saved Dwight McNeil’s shot, while Andre Onana made a brilliant save from Idrissa Gueye shortly after Rashford had made it 2-0. There was also a third successive clean sheet for Onanawa defenders in the 1-0 wins over Fulham and Luton Town.

Onana is currently tied for first place in the Premier League Golden Glove rankings. He recorded his fifth clean sheet of the season. Following Chelsea (476), Liverpool (460), and Arsenal (456), Manchester United reached the milestone with an away draw at Everton.

The 500th clean sheet was achieved in the 1,203rd match in the division. Only twice in the 2018/19 and 2021/22 seasons have they finished the season without recording double-digit clean sheets.

In the 1994/95 and 2008/09 seasons, they prevented the opposition from scoring on 24 occasions, particularly in the latter case when Edwin van der Sar and his defensive line set a remarkable record of keeping scoreless in 14 consecutive games.

According to the Premier League, Manchester United’s clean sheet was led by three goalkeepers. David de Gea leads the way with 147.

Peter Schmeichel follows with 112, while van der Sar has kept 94 clean sheets for Manchester United.

Fabien Barthez (34 times), Roy Carroll (26 times), Tim Howard, Thomas Kuszczak (16 times), Raimon van der Gou (12 times), Mark Bosnich (11 times), Anders Lingard (9 times) are also major contributors to this record.

United goalkeepers with clean sheets in the Premier League include: Ben Forster, Sergio Romero, Gary Walsh, Dean Henderson, Kevin Pilkington, Victor Valdes, Paul Rachubka, Ben Amos and Joel Pereira.
