Rasmus Hojlund was at the Carrington training ground today (Wednesday) as Manchester United’s newest signing continues to progress to full fitness.

The arrival of the 20-year-old Denmark international striker was announced ahead of Saturday’s friendly against Lens and Hojlund was introduced to the pitch ahead of kick-off at Old Trafford.

Our new player did not take part in this match, nor in Sunday’s meeting with Athletic Club in Dublin, as he suffered a minor injury during pre-season training with Atalanta.

My first memories of Manchester United

This problem should prevent him from playing for a few weeks, but the club manages his recovery with an individual program.

As part of this programme, Rasmus trained today on the grass at our training ground and is recovering well, according to manager Erik ten Hag.

“Of course he’s available and he’s here so you have the ability to play, but we don’t expect him to be 100% in such a short time”

Erik told Sky Sports’ Melissa Reddy on Tuesday.

“So we have to wait a little longer.”

“We need to double all positions due to the number of matches.”

“It’s hard to say how this process will play out, but I think he’s making good progress right now.”

“We have to see day by day how the progress is going to unfold, and then we have to follow up.”

Hojlund: He calls himself Agent Eriksen!

The manager could give some further information on our new striker at Friday’s press conference, where he will also present our Premier League opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wolves parted ways with Julen Lopetegui on Tuesday, just six days before the start of the season at Old Trafford (9pm kick-off).
