Ibiza, government chats, pandemic and the general world situation – some people may have wondered in recent years what Manfred Deix would have had to say regarding it. Unfortunately, the most important graphic chronicler of the Second Republic died in 2016 at the age of 67. One thing is made clear by the anniversary exhibition organized for his 75th birthday at the Krems Caricature Museum: Deix had enough “stuff”, as they say, throughout his life – his Mr. and Mrs. Austrians, distorted to make them recognizable, always stereotypical of him laid out thickly, reliably delivered scandals and oddities worth caring regarding.
