Mangaluru blast: IRC message claiming responsibility | Mangaluru blast case-IRC claiming responsibility

Bengaluru: The Islamic Resistance Council (IRC) has claimed responsibility for the autorickshaw blast in Mangalore.

However, the police have not confirmed this. The Intelligence Bureau is investigating the letter received on IRC’s letterhead and the status of the organization. ADGP Alok Kumar, who is in charge of law and order, is threatened in the letter.

The police responded that they had no clue as to where the letter was sent from and had never heard of IRC before. The letter is typed in English and has a photograph of Sharikh (29), a resident of Shivamogga Tirthahalli, the main accused in the case.

The salient line of the letter reads, ‘Their militant brother attempted to attack a Hindutva temple in Kadri, a stronghold of saffron militants in Mangalore.’ Although the operation did not meet its target, it was seen as a success. They were making preparations for the attack even though their brother, who was being followed by the state and central intelligence agencies, could have sneaked them out.

The letter warns that the joy of the likes of ADGP Alok Kumar, who are happy about their brother’s arrest, is short-lived and that you will soon feel the results of the crackdown.

The explosion, which is said to have targeted the famous Manjunath temple in Kadri, took place last Saturday. Sharikh (29), a native of Shivamogga Tirthahalli, was going in an auto with explosives prepared in a pressure cooker when the pressure cooker exploded.

Although Shariq’s arrest was recorded, the police did not record his statement as he was being treated in the intensive care unit with burns on 40 percent of his body.

CCTV footage of the lodge where Shariq was staying was collected

Nedumbassery: The anti-terrorist wing of the state police has collected the CCTV footage of the lodge where Mangaluru blast case accused Muhammad Shariq was staying.

He was in the lodge from September 13 to 18. The room was taken in the name of Premraj. According to the staff, he stayed in the lodge most of the time except for eating. It has a CCTV system that can store footage only up to 17 days.
