Manhandled in Orlando, New York wins on experience

NBA – Led throughout the game, the Knicks overthrew the Magic in “money time” thanks to their Randle/Brunson duo (102-98).

Solid defensively, Orlando limits New York to just seven points in the first six minutes. On the other side of the field, the players of Jamahl Mosley punish, and take an eleven point lead (18-7). The Knicks gradually return to their match, and come back into contact. The Magic leads 26-22 at the end of the first quarter.

Under the impetus of Franz Wagner and Cole Anthony, Orlando started the second half very well, which allowed the Floridians to go back over the ten-point lead (38-26). But now, the return of Julius Randle on the floor will change the face of the Knicks who will take the opportunity to return to a small point of the Magic (41-40). Markelle Fultz takes things in hand at the end of the quarter to sign a 7-0, and restore air to the Magic 48-40 at the break.

The start of the third quarter is very physical on both sides with a lot of unspoken contacts. In this game, the Knicks are doing the best by coming back to two points following a long distance basket from Quentin Grimes (54-52). Despite everything, Orlando holds on, and does not let New York pass in front of the score. The Magic leads 69-66 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Immanuel Quickley, on a 3-point shot, finally gives the advantage to New York (72-71) under the “let’s go knicks” chanted by the Knicks fans present in the room. The Magic reacted in stride through Moritz Wagner who planted two consecutive 3-point baskets to give Orlando a five-point lead (80-75). Sims restores the advantage to his team less than five minutes from the end (85-84). The latter gives the Knicks a three-point lead on a dunk 40 seconds from time. The game ended in free throws, and the Knicks won 102-98.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

– Les Knicks au finish. It was a tough game for Tom Thibodeau’s men. New York trailed most of the game. However, thanks to very good management of the 4th quarter, the Knicks managed to win. Their determination and ability to stay in the game when things weren’t going their way made the difference and turned the tide late in the game.

– An Orlando team is joking.

Despite the loss, the Magic showed some great things, especially through their youngsters. Markelle Fultz, Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner and Cole Anthony have confirmed that they have boundless energy on the pitch, and we understand better why this team recently beat the Celtics and the Sixers. However, they cracked late in the game against a more experienced Knicks team.

TOPS/FLOPS

✅ The Randle / Brunson duo. They took matters into their own hands when needed with 47 points between them.

✅ Immanuel Quickley. He always put the basket which prevented Orlando from widening a more substantial gap. Off the bench, he scored 18 points at 4/9 from 3-point range.

✅ The youth of Magic. Markelle Fultz, Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner and Cole Anthony showed great things against the Knicks. The future looks bright for Disney.

⛔️ The Magic’s 3-point address. They were very awkward behind the arc with only 24% (6/25).

⛔️ RJ Barrett. A new breakdown of address for the Canadian with an ugly 5/16 in shooting.
