Manon Brouillette will take office on June 2 for a five-year term. She will thus replace Jacynthe Côté, who announced her departure as President of the Board last December.
Along with the other members of the Board of Directors and the Government of Quebec, Ms. Brouillette will continue the work in progress which will lead to the appointment of the new CEOwe read in a press release from Hydro-Québec published on Wednesday.
Note that Pierre Despars is currently acting as CEO after the departure of Sophie Brochu on April 11.
Manon Brouillette has worked for more than 20 years at the head of companies in the telecommunications, media and technology sectors, including Videotron, from 2014 to 2018, and more recently Verizon.

The leader from Trois-Rivières has also been a member of the board of several Quebec and international companies, including the National Bank, Cirque du Soleil and the Sainte-Justine University Hospital Center.
Throughout her career, she has worked for the development of female leadership and mental health in the workplace, the statement said. In 2016, Ms. Brouillette won a Quebec Business Women award in the category Private business manager

Ms. Brouillette holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing communication from Laval University and a professional development diploma fromIvey Business School from the University of Western Ontario.
The leader was also named to the magazine’s 100 Most Powerful Women list News one in 2014 and one in 2016.

Switch to Verizon
Ms. Brouillette enjoyed a rapid but brief career rise with the American telecommunications giant Verizon.
Just four months after joining the senior management team in 2021, the businesswoman has risen through the ranks and taken on the role of CEO of the consumer division, in addition to becoming vice-president of the communications division.
During her time with the company, her responsibilities included managing the company’s growth as it developed and deployed its 5G technology.
However, the experience was short-lived: Ms. Brouillette resigned a year and a half after joining the Verizon team.
