MAP and EFE Sign MoU to Strengthen Media Cooperation Between Morocco and Spain

Rabat – The Maghreb Arab Press Agency (MAP) and the Spanish Press Agency (EFE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday in Rabat on strengthening their cooperation in the field of media.

Initialed by the Director General of MAP, Fouad Arif, and the President and CEO of EFE, Miguel Ángel Oliver, this MoU provides for the establishment of cooperation in training and internships for the benefit of employees of the two agencies and technical support for media coverage.

Under the agreement, both parties also commit to mutual cooperation in content sharing and execution of specific projects.

On this occasion, Mr. Oliver, who is in Morocco as part of his first visit to a foreign country since taking office at the head of EFE, described the cooperation between the two institutions as “extremely important”. media, particularly in light of the major changes that journalism is experiencing.

Mr. Oliver, who was accompanied by the Spanish Ambassador to Morocco, Ricardo Diez-Hochleitner Rodriguez, and a large delegation of journalists and EFE officials, also spoke of the threats facing the media, in particular the disinformation, ensuring that they can be overcome through cooperation between media establishments.

“The field of journalism is changing, and this agreement puts us on the right path to providing our two peoples with a better understanding of current events through clear and transparent information,” he continued, emphasizing the importance for the two institutions to combine their efforts in order to face the different challenges.

For his part, Mr. Arif highlighted the new opportunities available to the two news agencies, thanks to this MoU, to expand their long-standing partnership in areas of common interest and address the challenges of the news industry. media around the world.

The signing of this agreement comes at the right time, as MAP begins a new era marked by an innovative strategic vision aimed at establishing the agency as a regional and continental reference in terms of information, he said.

He also emphasized the crucial role of MAP and EFE in strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation between Morocco and Spain.

As leading news agencies, we take responsibility for providing our readers with reliable, impartial and balanced information that can contribute to the promotion of intercultural understanding and international cooperation,” said Mr. Arif.

For his part, Mr. Diez-Hochleitner Rodriguez affirmed that “MAP is a large press agency”, which continues to give very particular interest to the coverage of everything relating to relations between Morocco and the ‘Spain.

Moroccan-Spanish relations are “singular”. They are the fruit of the “privileged” ties uniting HM King Mohammed VI and HM King Felipe VI of Spain, as well as the efforts made by the governments of the two countries, he underlined.

He also noted the importance for MAP and EFE to work together to promote better knowledge of Moroccan and Spanish cultures among readers of the two agencies.
