Marc Marquez Injury Update: Dutch GP Absence Due to Fractured Rib

2023-06-25 11:24:54

The Spaniard Marc Marquez, who is still suffering from injuries contracted a week ago at the Sachsenring, will not start the Dutch GP on the Assen circuit (to follow on RTS 2 from 1:50 p.m.).

Saturday night, “after the sprint race, my pains (au thorax) became more and more intense. This morning I went to the medical center to notify that I would be unable to ride (…). Tuesday, during a check, the news was reassuring despite the discovery of a broken rib. But an exam this Sunday showed slight displacement of the fractured rib“, explained the Spaniard, who bets on “prudence (…) to prevent it from getting worse“.

Currently 19th in the general classification of the world championship, struggling this season with a particularly recalcitrant mount, the six-time MotoGP world champion fell 5 times last weekend in Germany and twice on Friday and Saturday in the Netherlands.

In Germany, the young thirty-year-old especially suffered a heavy fall during the “warm up”, the warm-up session preceding the Grand Prix, causing a fracture to a rib and another to the level of a finger of his left hand, which forced him to finally forfeit the Sachsenring, yet his favorite playground with 11 successes in all categories.
