Marco Rubio has been characterized as the main ally of the President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, in the United States Senate, and has repeatedly expressed his support for the decisions of the Salvadoran President.
In the first quarter of 2023, Rubio held an important meeting with President Bukele, in which he showed his full support for the execution of plans and strategies against criminal groups that in previous years stole the peace of Salvadorans.

Rubio has represented Florida in the US Senate for the Republican Party since 2011. He is a fervent critic of the Biden administration for its “terrible” foreign policy that has alienated allied countries.
The senator affirmed that the Biden government speaks negatively of President Bukele and that his administration does not see the importance of strengthening relations with El Salvador, despite the fact that it has become a model for other nations in the region, which in months passed to be a prosperous and safe country.
