Throughout this awards season and during the promotion of the Barbie film, Margot Robbie has appeared on the red carpets with dresses that reference the famous doll. Of course, the 29th Critics Choice Awards was no exception, and Robbie dazzled those present and the shortlist viewers with an ostentatious outfit that alluded to a classic version of Barbie.

Robbie attended the ceremony in a custom-made red Balmain dress adorned with flowers along the collarbones, accessorizing it with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. As soon as the first photographs of the actress reached social networks, both her fans and those of the doll did not take long to relate this outfit with the Radiant Rose Barbie from 1996, which stands out for leaving behind the classic blonde hair and changing it for a brown style.

The doll also wears a burgundy dress adorned with flowers that cross from the neck to the waist, making this Barbie one of the most coveted of her time. Today, the Radiant Rose Barbie can be found relatively easily in online stores such as Amazon, with a price ranging from USD 50 to USD 100 depending on its condition.

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie is the film with the most nominations in this edition of the Critics Choice Awards with a total of 18. This also makes it the most nominated film in the history of the shortlist. Among its notable nominations are Best Picture, Best Cast, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor and Best Actress. Robbie, who was in charge of bringing Barbie to life, recently commented in an interview with Deadline that she will take a break from acting after this film that gave so much to talk about, because as she herself says, people must be “fed up with her.” ” at this stage.

“I think everyone is probably sick of seeing me by now. It should probably disappear from screens for a while. Honestly, if I made another movie too soon, people would say, ‘Her again? We just spent an entire summer with her. We’re over it now.’ I don’t know what I’ll do next, but I hope it will be soon.”

Margot’s dress is not only very similar to the doll’s from the late 90’s, but also to the one Emily Blunt wore to the shortlist. Blunt appeared in a red dress that exposed her left shoulder and covered her entire right arm. In it, she also carried a huge flower that immediately made people associate her with Margot on the Critics Choice Awards carpet.
