On Wednesday, there was an intense confrontation in Argenzuela between Mariana Brey and Diego Brancatelli, in relation to the serious incidents taking place in Jujuy. During the tense debate, the trade unionist Pablo Moyano abandoned his cell phone.

“If the opposition governs, what we see in Jujuy happens,” Mariana began forcefully. “What side are you on? Tell me to understand your perspective, ”Brancatelli asked him, upset with the opinion of his partner.

“I am on the side of the people. I don’t want 9 de Julio to be cut off today or for the Jujuy thing to happen,” the journalist said. “In Jujuy, people are demanding something different, but let’s not waste Pablo’s time and then we give our opinion at the table,” Brancatelli replied, trying to draw attention to the guest.

However, Mariana stressed that her intention was not to generate a debate, but rather to ask the trade unionist if he was aware that there were people throwing stones and setting things on fire. “The same thing that happened here recently and it turned out to be an attack, but if it happens on the other side it is not an attack, it is because they are repressing. And I see the police show up when everything is on fire. What should be done? Allow Jujuy to be burned down?” Brey questioned Moyano.

“What happens is that when they are sitting in an office they talk calmly. When they tell a worker: ‘You won’t have the salary negotiations you deserve’. Or when they tell an indigenous community: ‘We are going to take away your land to extract minerals or lithium.’ When they tell you: ‘You can’t set foot on the street, because you will be arrested if you protest’. What is the reaction?” said the union leader.

“You are journalists, don’t you understand what is happening? I’m not going to explain how it happened,” Moyano said, without directly answering the panelist’s question, who remarked that there are many politicians ruling from Twitter but none traveling to Jujuy to sit down to talk.

“Every politician must take charge, I didn’t go because the flight was cancelled,” the guest defended himself, while Brey’s colleagues pointed out to the journalist that it was not the trade unionist’s job to respond to these accusations. “It is not his task, but he is calling for a national strike. The country cannot be paralyzed for any reason,” Brey insisted.

“The province of Jujuy is much more prosperous compared to 20 years ago, thanks to the change in its productive structure. Now they are debating how that wealth is distributed”, intervened Mauro Federico.

“Is that the only thing that is being discussed? They are telling me that there are teachers there, but I saw violent people. I don’t know what they do in their personal lives, but I saw people throwing rocks, setting fires, and stealing cars. What should be done about that? I saw a person hitting his head against a truck”, Mariana intervened, again.

While Brey and the rest of the panelists argued among themselves, Moyano got tired, took off the earpiece that connected him to the program, got up, and put the cell phone away. This generated even more tension on the floor, where Brancatelli asked her partner to respect the guest. “He was our guest, we are debating… Let’s respect the interviewee,” said the one who leads the cycle while Jorge Rial is absent.

“If the man got angry because he can’t hold a debate on television. I’m not attacking him, I’m asking him. He is calling for a national strike,” Brey responded, outraged.

The following minutes of the program became uncomfortable, since both the host and the rest of the panelists attacked Brey and sent her to study journalism. Nevertheless, she kept her stance firm and continued with her tasks.
