“I discovered a passion,” said the sparkling singer, presenter and now actress, Friday, during an interview with The newspapera few hours before the film’s presentation at the Quebec City Film Festival.
“I already had another offer for something really fun in Canada, a series that I really like. I don’t know if it will work,” says the one who will listen to the offers without soliciting them.
“I have never forced things in my career, but if someone gives me a pass, I will score. […] After twenty years, if I only did music, I think I would be missing a little danger, a little something that makes me want to move forward. »

Yes right now
Acting, however, was not on his list of things to do before he died. Every time she was asked if she was interested in cinema, she invariably answered no.
One day, responding to the suggestion of a mutual friend – hairdresser David D’Amours, not to mention his name – producer Denise Robert suggested that he audition.
“I said yes straight away, I had nothing to lose,” says Marie-Mai.
She took lessons with a coach and convinced the team to Testament to entrust her with the role of Flavie, a mysterious woman who visits Rémy Girard’s character once a week to bring him comfort.
When Denys says nothing…
Even though we don’t see her on screen for long, her character plays a key role in the evolution of the story, which she appreciated.
Faced with Sophie Lorain on her first day of filming, she admits that she was looking for her bearings.
“I felt good doing the scene, but I didn’t know if it was good or not. I looked at Denys and he said nothing. The insecure person in me automatically said he was sorry. At the end of the day, Denise told me that when he doesn’t say anything, it’s because everything is fine. »
Relieved, the rest was a charm, relates Marie-Mai. “Denys is an exceptional director. When he comes to tell you a comment, it’s so precise and well delivered, you can digest it and clearly understand what you need to do. »
Testament, by Denys Arcand, will be released in theaters in Quebec on October 5.
