Mario Alberto Kempes He already has his own giant statue on the outskirts of the stadium that bears his name, in the Chateau Carreras neighborhood, a sculpture that portrays a historical photo of the goalscorer and was created with recyclable sheets.

The artistic work is located in one of the roundabouts that lead to the south entrance of the World Cup stadium and replicates a historical image of the player born in Bell Ville, which evokes the goal celebration that Kempes scored in the 1978 Argentina World Cup final, when the National team won its first World Cup directed by César Luis Menotti.

El Matador gave an interview this Saturday to the radio program Tercer Tiempo, from Radio Pulxowhere among other topics he spoke of the emotion that this means.

“The people of Córdoba have behaved phenomenally. The surprise was so nice, one is amazed by how beautiful everything has been. We’ll see when I have the chance to get there. I would like to see the statue as soon as possible. I’ve seen it through photos… Every moment comes and hopefully that day comes soon,” Kempes said.

Then, referring to the situation of Institute in the First Division, he said: “Unfortunately he spent many years at Nacional, it was very difficult for him to return to the First Division. I was guided by the results, it’s not that I watch all the games that the Institute plays because sometimes they televise it and sometimes they don’t.
