Mark Coleman wakes up after house fire: “I couldn’t breathe”

Mark Coleman has recovered from his near-death experience and appears to be in good spirits after surviving a fire that broke out earlier this week in Toledo, Ohio in the US. The 59-year-old UFC legend was hospitalized for smoke inhalation after saving his parents from a fire at their house, where he was visiting.

The fire started in the kitchen and later spread to the rest of the house. Coleman managed to get his parents out and then returned for his dog Hammer. Unfortunately, the fighter’s dog did not survive the incident. With his own life intact and his parents safe, however, the former heavyweight champion feels lucky.

HOTTEST RIGHT NOW

– I am the happiest man in the world, said Coleman in a video on Facebook. I can hardly believe my parents are alive. I had to make a decision. I got out of my room and went to the door and it was already terrible. I couldn’t breathe. I almost had to go out and I returned and got them. I couldn’t believe it. I picked them up and couldn’t find Hammer.

As healthcare costs have been incredibly high, Coleman’s daughters have started one GoFundMe– like for the UFC legend. The $50,000 goal has already been reached with over 1,600 donations from fans and friends.
