SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois State women’s tennis team began its weekend with a win on Friday, as the Redbirds secured a 7-0 win in the state capital once morest Illinois-Springfield to increase their win streak to three matches in a row.
The Redbirds picked up the win in doubles, thanks to a 6-0 win at the No. 2 spot from Nevena Kolarevic and Silvia Pomarolli and a victory from the No. 3 spot by the duo of Zoe Limparis and Nuria Sanz by a score of 6-3.
ISU then swept the singles matches, winning in straight sets at No. 1 through No. 5 and Sofia Rodrigo picking up a three-set win at the No. 6 spot to give the Redbirds a 7-0 win.
Illinois State will host its second match of the weekend on Saturday, when the Redbirds welcome in Marquette for a 4:30 p.m. match at the Evergreen Racquet Club.
