Marseille: at 60, the Laveran hospital will break camp

2023-11-07 16:24:11

To think that ten years ago, it came close to closing… Established since 1963 in the 13th and 14th arrondissements of Marseille, the Laveran army training hospital was to be removed from the new map of the Service de health of the Armed Forces. Defense Minister Jean-Yves le Drian finally gave up on it. And we can only welcome it. How would we have gotten through the Covid pandemic in Marseille without this establishment which played its full part in the crisis? How would we cope, on a daily basis, with the needs in terms of emergency reception and coverage of health needs in the health desert of the northern districts? Without forgetting of course the military mission of this establishment, whose personnel are regularly sent on op?
