Marseille first stop for Olympic flame

In France, the Olympic flame for the 2024 games in Paris is to make its first stop in Marseille. The flame is to be transported from Athens with a three-master across the Mediterranean to Marseille, as the organizers announced on Friday. The city wants to hold a big festival at the port to mark the occasion. The flame will then be lit in Paris for the opening ceremony on July 26.

Ten football matches and the sailing competitions will be held in Marseille during the Olympic Games. The flame is traditionally lit in Olympia, Greece, at the site of the ancient Olympic Games.
