Martin Schwab has been a member of the Burgtheater ensemble for 35 years. Martin Schwab celebrated his 85th birthday in November – and he’s still on stage – next Thursday, for example, at the premiere of Peter Handke’s new play “Zwietalk” at the Academy Theater in Vienna. “Poetry is the concentration of thoughts,” says Martin Schwab, “we need silence again. Positive changes only happen when we are calm.” Poems are “life food” for Martin Schwab and his wife Inga. Every day in the morning, at breakfast, I read my wife a short literary text or a poem,” says Schwab. For “Du Holde Kunst” Martin Schwab chose his favorite poems, poems from the 20th century, as Martin Schwab calls it – “Melange, which is also intended to stimulate thinking” We bring music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Arvo Pärt, George Gershwin and Johann Strauss the Father to the poems selected and interpreted by Martin Schwab.
