Martinique: Le Plis Fos, the most powerful tug in France and the Caribbean, inaugurated in Fort-de-France

A boat 27.5 meters long, 12.9 meters wide, 288 tons heavy for 6700 hp and 85.3 tons of traction, thehe Plis Fos is a true cutting-edge vessel in its field, equipped with technology aimed at reducing its pollutant emissions, which surpasses in its category all that is done in the Caribbean and in France.

The Plis Fos, a tool that will enable the territory to better respond to the challenges of maritime transport in the decades to come, but also to intervene in missions to fight against fires and maritime pollution, cost 8 million euros, thanks to with support from the State, FEDER funds, and the Territorial Collectivity of Martinique.
Finally, the tug will have the particularity of employing only seagoing personnel trained at the Maritime and Aquaculture Professional Training School (EFPMA) in Martinique.

For its inauguration this Friday, January 6, 2023, many officials and partners made the trip, including Senator Catherine Conconne, the ship’s godmother, the prefect of Martinique Jean-Christophe Bouvier, the president of the CTM Executive Council Serge Letchimy , or the mayor of Fort-de-France Didier Laguerre.
