As expected, England international Mason Mount is moving to Manchester United.
This was announced by England’s record champions on Wednesday with a short video in which Mount puts on the Manchester United jersey. The club initially did not give any further details. An official presentation of the 24-year-old is expected later today.
According to media reports, Mount, who comes from Premier League rivals Chelsea FC, is said to have signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford. Accordingly, Man United paid Chelsea the equivalent of almost 64 million euros for the attacking midfielder. Thanks to bonus payments, the sum might increase by a few million.
Mount had previously said goodbye to Chelsea fans in an emotional video message. The Portsmouth-born footballer had been through all the Blues youth teams since he was six. After being loaned out to Vitesse Arnhem and Derby County by the club, he has played professionally for Chelsea since 2019.
Manchester United shares temporarily gained 2.03 percent in trading on the NYSE to $24.91.
