Jorge Xolalpa’s low-budget indie film, Lolita, is generating buzz as it premieres at the San Antonio Film Festival.The film is set in the working-class suburbs of L.A. It tells the story of Jesús (played by Alexis Vazquez), a recently released openly gay man persistent to rebuild his life and reconnect with his daughter after serving nine years for a nonviolent drug offence.
Vazquez makes his acting debut alongside Johnny Ortiz (McFarland, USA), Plutarco Haza (El Señor de los Cielos), Katherine Castro (Someday), and Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts (Runaway Train, The Dark Knight). Xolalpa wrote, directed, and produced Lolita under his Mighty Aphrodite Pictures banner, with Alfredo widman producing for Latin Entertainment Work.
