Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck) won the first post-Tour criterium in our country on Monday evening in Aalst. The 28-year-old Dutchman was slightly ahead of his teammate and wearer of the green jersey of the Tour Jasper Philipsen. Italian Julius Ciccone completed the podium with the polka dot jersey on the shoulders. Jordan Meeus won the peloton sprint.
The post-Tour criterium was preceded by a Gentlemen Classic during which Johan Museeuw took the measure of Dirk De Wolf and Peter De Clercq. On Tuesday, Roeselare will host another post-Tour criterium. Jasper Philipsen, Jordi Meeus, Yves Lampaert, Michal Kwiatkowski, Jonas Rickaert and Oliver Naesen, among others, will start there from 6:30 p.m.
