The Victoriavillois Matthew Bergeron, selected in 38e rank of the last National Football League draft, signed his first professional contract with the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday. The agreement is for a term of four years, for an amount of US$8.97 million.

The Falcons traded with the Indianapolis Colts shortly before their second-round selection to secure the 23-year-old’s services.

Head coach Arthur Smith confirmed on the Falcons website that the newest member of his roster will play as a guard. He might assert himself on the alignment starting on the left.

Matthew Bergeron reacted to the news on Twitter by thanking the Falcons organization (“Thank you for the opportunity! Still can’t believe it!”).
