A 57-year-old motorcyclist died in a violent accident that occurred during the night from Saturday to Sunday, on Route 132, in Bécancour, in Mauricie.
The accident occurred around 12:15 a.m. at the exit of Route 132, also called Bécancour Boulevard, according to information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
According to the authorities, the motorcyclist, who was alone on board, left the road which ended badly at the end of the curve.
Resuscitation maneuvers were performed on the driver, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
No other vehicles were involved in the event.
An investigation has been opened to establish the cause and circumstances of this fatal accident. According to SQ spokesperson Stéphane Tremblay, alcohol and speeding are not factors suspected by the authorities.
