Assistant coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves for four years in the NBA, Maxime Lefèvre was appointed main coach of the franchise during the Summer League in Las Vegas (July 7-17).

Video analyst, coach specializing in player development then assistant coach, Maxime Lefèvre will now take the reins of the Minnesota Timberwolves for ten days, during the Las Vegas Summer League (July 7-17). A great mark of confidence for the Lorrain, who has spent his entire career as a coach in the United States after an NCAA course until 2013 and a retraining in coaching. He detailed his new mission in an interview with RMC Sport :

“One or two weeks after the end of the season, the coach came to see me and told me that he wanted me to coach the team during the Summer League. He told me not to talk about it because he hadn’t told anyone but me. Afterwards, he warned the rest of the staff two or three weeks ago (…). In general, it is rather the young assistants who make the Summer League, because the assistants who have more experience have already done it. Afterwards, we look at who has not done it and it is played between these coaches (…). When you’re an assistant, you can do a lot of things, but it’s different to pass on the chair next door. The responsibilities are different so it’s a good experience. I think that when you become an assistant again, you look at the work of the head coach in a slightly different way. It is a reward for the work I have done so far and it shows the confidence of the coach and the rest of the franchise. »
