Maya by Autodesk now also supports Macs with M1/M2

Just yesterday, we commented here that the AutoCAD and the AutoCAD LT for Mac 2024 gained native support for computers equipped with Apple chips. However, Autodesk also released the novelty for the Maya — 3D modeling platform used primarily in game development, film production, and visual effects.

As with AutoCADs, the 2024 release of Maya brings native support for Macs with M1/M2 family chips, plus a host of new features including the LookdevX material editor, Hydra support (USD pluggable rendering ecosystemUniversal Scene Description.”>1), between others.

Naturally, the main advantage of native support for Apple’s chips is the improved performance, as the software will no longer run through the Rosetta 2 emulation tool.

It is worth noting that upgrading Maya supporting M1/M2 Macs is free for existing customers. New users can check the values on this page.
