The mayor of Maipú, Tomas Vodanovicmet this Tuesday with the Minister of the Interior, Carolina Toháfor request presence of the Armed forcesin some sectors of the commune and other security measures.
Given the latest acts of violence recorded, among them, the shooting that ended with a 16-year-old teenager dead and four people injured in the town of San Luis,The community chief expressed that “We want more State presence, more security and for our neighbors to be able to live in peace.”
“We made three very specific requests to the Minister of the Interior. The first is to be able to generate control and eviction operations in the occupation of Pajaritos with Camino a Melipilla, which is the occupation where it was the body of former military man Ojeda found and to which we had a positive response with operations that will begin to develop in the coming days,” he said.
In turn, Vodanovic asked “generate weapons control operations focused on the town of San Luis and in the western sector of the commune, which has had constant shootings and where a 16-year-old minor was murdered last weekend.
“And the third request was a call to the Government to be able use all the tools that the State has at its disposal to work for the safety of our neighbors, among them, having the military support for certain functions in the commune and particularly the protection of infrastructure and critical areas, in coordination with Carabineros,” he added.

After the meeting with Minister Tohá at the La Moneda Palace, the mayor of Maipú indicated that “The Government is open to this possibility” to deploy the Armed Forces in some parts of the Metropolitan region.
