Mayor Alejandra Rodríguez signed a Mutual Cooperation Agreement with the UNT Faculty of Medicine. The objective is to develop joint actions, training projects and academic training.

“This year there were already students who had a very good experience and we hope this continues, because as the student integrates we train human resources adapted to the needs of the community. Throughout the entire degree there is a curricular space of integration where students progressively adapt to the health system, followed by a peri-urban internship and then a rural one. The fact of having a space here is an advantage for both institutions. Because on the one hand, we bring our students, as I told you, with an early integration into the community, but those students will later be the future doctors,” explained Liliana Mónica Tefaha, vice dean of the Faculty.

Joint efforts will provide information on programs and work methods in order to collaborate with community progress, especially for people who are in a state of vulnerability. The academic training of the Faculty’s Human Resources will also be strengthened in the services provided by the Health Directorate.

The signing of this agreement implies a more comprehensive training with a more community perspective for the students and for the municipality it represents the opening of spaces and the creation of tools for working together.

“We are pleased and honored that our institution welcomes students from the first year of the Faculty of Medicine. It is a new subject that the Faculty incorporated to train the children, from the beginning, in the most territorial and decentralized work and getting to know public health services. We have already carried out this initiative throughout the year, the boys worked in our municipal polyclinic, in the different areas, in vaccination, in cures, on guard, in the offices, observing because of course they are boys who are in training,” indicated Laura Macchioni, director of Public Health.

Also present were the Secretary of Innovation, Development and University Extension Juan Carlos Santos, the lawyer Ernesto Reynosa Corta, the Deputy Director of Health Lourdes Ceballos and Dr. Andrea Lascano, both professors at the Faculty.
