Mazda MX-30 R-EV: The return of the rotary engine

In order to bring the Wankel engine so far technically that it delivers up-to-date consumption and exhaust gas values, the Compression ratio increased to 11.9:1, friction losses were reduced and an exhaust gas recirculation system was implemented. There, a catalytic converter and a particulate filter ensure that the Wankel meets the strictest Euro 6d-ISC-FCM emissions standard.

The consumption of the drive system in the WLTP cycle is 1 liter of petrol (21 g/km CO2) and 17.5 kWh of electricity per 100 km. If the combustion engine runs as an electricity producer to charge the battery, the average consumption is 7.6 l/100 km.

As far as the driving performance is concerned, the speed limit is 140 and the acceleration value is 9.1 seconds for the sprint from 0 to 100 km.

In Austria, the Mazda MX-30 R-EV is expected in early summer. Even if there are no official statements regarding the price yet, a look at Germany might help. There it is offered at the same cost price as the purely electric version MX-30.
