MB Rajesh MB Rajesh resigned as Speaker; Swearing in as minister on Tuesday

Thiruvananthapuram; MB Rajesh has resigned as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. The resignation letter was handed over to Deputy Speaker Chittayam Gopakumar. MV Govindan, who was the Minister of Local Development and Excise Department, had resigned as the Minister after being elected as the State Secretary of the CPM. The CPM state secretariat has chosen MB Rajesh as the minister to fill the vacancy of MV Govindan.

MB Rajesh will be sworn in as minister at a ceremony to be held at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday. AN Shamsir is the new assembly speaker.

MV Govindan, who was elected as the state secretary of CPM, resigned from the ministry yesterday. Meanwhile, there was an agreement in the CPM state secretariat to continue as MLA. In 1998, Pinarayi, the secretary, resigned as minister and remained as MLA.
