Hilton Debuts in the Nile Delta
MBG Developments has secured a strategic partnership with Hilton to launch the Hilton Garden Inn Doray Bay Ras El Bar. This agreement marks the international hospitality giant’s first entry into Egypt’s Nile Delta region.
The 160-room hotel serves as the anchor for the Doray Bay project, a mixed-use waterfront development built in collaboration with the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA). Situated less than 200 meters from the beach, the property overlooks the project’s primary commercial district, granting guests immediate access to a variety of retail outlets, cafés, and dining facilities.
Infrastructure and Coastal Amenities
The wider development extends beyond the hotel footprint. It features an integrated 1.1-kilometer tourist promenade stretching along the waterfront, complemented by a sea pier and a dedicated yacht marina.
Mahmoud El Adl, Chairperson of MBG Developments, described the project as a model for cooperation between the state and the private sector. “The project serves as a model for cooperation between the state and the private sector,” he said. He added that the development aligns with the government’s target to expand Egypt’s hotel capacity to 300,000 rooms by 2030. Residential units within the project are designed to provide unobstructed sea views, with construction standards requiring elevators in every building. Handover of these residential units is slated for 2027.
Reviving the Ras El Bar Legacy
The hotel will feature a full suite of amenities, including multiple restaurants, a fitness center, an integrated spa, and dedicated banquet and event halls. Amr El Adl, Vice Chairperson and CEO of MBG Developments, noted that the Hilton partnership ensures the property meets rigorous international management standards.
He emphasized the historical significance of the site, noting its legacy as a seasonal retreat for Egypt’s royal family and cultural figures. The company’s objective is to revitalize this history, transforming the area into a modern tourism destination.
Long-Term Hospitality Investment
For Hilton, the deal signals a continued expansion of its Egyptian footprint. Carlos Khneisser, Hilton’s Chief Development Officer for the Middle East and Africa, confirmed the company’s commitment to long-term hospitality investment in the country. He described the partnership as a direct contribution toward the goals of Egypt Vision 2030, which seeks to bolster the nation’s appeal to global travelers.
Currently in the development phase, the project is moving toward its 2027 delivery timeline. Both parties are now focused on integrating hotel operations into the broader master plan for the Ras El Bar waterfront.
