McCarthy wins votes in 12th ballot but no majority – USA

WASHINGTON DC – After 11 unsuccessful attempts in three days, the US House of Representatives reconvened on Epiphany to elect a leader. Republican Kevin McCarthy was able to expand his support in the twelfth ballot, as the vote showed. Several rebels, including his original opponent Byron Donalds, voted for McCarthy. Because of the narrow majority, however, he once more missed the required absolute majority.
