McLaren F1 plans to debut the 2022 F1 machine “MCL36” later this month just before the pre-season test begins in Barcelona.

McLaren F1 announced the new car “MCL36” at the McLaren Technology Center of Walking on February 11th (Friday). The aerodynamic design of the machine has changed and the new papaya orange and blue livery has become a hot topic.

In 2022, it was the second team after the Aston Martin F1 to show what the actual car would look like. Haas F1 released the VF-22 in early-stage rendered images, and Red Bull Racing had given the FOM show car the 2022 livery.

The Aston Martin F1 has completed the AMR22 shakedown on Friday, February 11th at Silverstone on Friday, following its launch on Thursday, February 10th, using Philiming Day.

Normally, F1 teams will use one of the two filming days allowed before the test as a shakedown before starting official track driving.

When asked about the McLaren MCL36 shakedown plan, team principal Andreas Seidl said he was setting goals shortly before the first Barcelona test.

“Probably like all other teams, we are planning to have a filming day very close to the start of the official test in Barcelona,” said Andreas Seidl.

“It’s in the schedule. There are still a lot of boxes to check next week to finally be ready for it.”

“But we’re ready because everyone is doing a great job under the leadership of Pears (Shin / Production Director), James (Key / Technical Director) and Andrea (Stella / Racing Director). I’m absolutely sure. “

James Key, McLaren’s technical director, said the team was “proud to show off the real car” at launch, saying it was the version to be brought to Barcelona, but for “obvious reasons” how many. He says that the element is hidden.

“There are some delicate areas, but you can see more by running the machine,” said James Key.

“As far as development planning is concerned, as with all teams, we are still in the learning process at this stage, so we are confident that we can perform the development steps early.”

“The development rate and aggressiveness everyone is showing to find the next step is really strong. We’re introducing some updates to Bahrain, and those next tranches are already underway.”

“You’ll see the cars change, but I’m sure all the cars will change.”
