In Chuvashia for 7 months, 35 people became infected with measles. Cases are being reported for the first time since 2019. This is reported in the press service Rospotrebnadzor Chuvashia.

From January to July of this year, 35 cases of measles were registered in Chuvashia. In Novocheboksarsk and Komsomolsky district – one case each, and in Cheboksary 33 cases were registered. Since 2019, there have been no cases of infection with a dangerous disease from the past in the republic. Residents of Chuvashia are concerned about the lack of measles vaccine in hospitals.

“A question for the Ministry of Health of our republic. Why are there no measles vaccines for children at all? Are we expecting a massive epidemic? There is no foreign MMP-ll vaccine available and it is unknown. There have been no vaccines in state hospitals since the beginning of the year, how are you going to solve this problem? ” – a resident of Chuvashia asked questions.

The press service of the Ministry of Health of Chuvashia replied that the measles vaccine was available in the region. Now, on a priority basis, vaccination is carried out for contact persons and citizens subject to clean-up vaccination by decision of Rospotrebnadzor. The department also noted that the supply of drugs for routine measles vaccination this year was repeated. Large batches of vaccines are expected to arrive: Vactrivir against measles, mumps and rubella should arrive by December 25, and the mumps-measles vaccine by November 25.
