“This year, only one group outbreak of morbidity has been registered among people of the Roma diaspora, when five children and one adult fell ill at one point. The following cases have already been registered among friends and relatives of the sick. In the remaining outbreaks, from one to two cases of the disease were registered. Anti-epidemic measures were organized to prevent the further spread of measles cases,” said Veronika Zakharova, chief specialist-expert of the epidemiological surveillance department of the regional Rospotrebnadzor.
As noted in the Oka story, measles is insidious in that it is almost impossible to identify it immediately. It starts like a normal ARVI. Those who are sick develop a fever, runny nose and cough.
It is also clarified that measles can cause complications such as laryngitis, tracheobronchitis, pneumonia, myocarditis, blindness and mental retardation.
The incubation period ranges from eight to 17 days. The main symptoms of the disease begin to appear after a few days.
The measles vaccine is included in the functional vaccination schedule for children. The first injection is given at the age of one year, and the second injection at six years. Adolescents and adults under 35 years of age, as well as people under 55 who are at risk, are vaccinated twice with an interval of three months. You can get vaccinated at your local clinic.
Let us remind you that in May, three cases of measles were registered in the Ryazan region. Rospotrebnadzor stated that the region is not at risk of an epidemic of the disease.
