Meaurio, from Racing to Guaireña of Paraguay

Nicolás Meaurio is not part of the First Division squad, at least for now, but the 19-year-old boy had been waiting for what he could finally do. The striker who emerged from the Tita Mattiussi Estate signed his first contract with the Academy on the same day as Santiago Quiros, a central defender who is a member of the professional squad led by Fernando Gago. But unlike Quiros, the attacker will not continue in Racing: in this transfer market, Meaurio will go on loan to Paraguay, more precisely to the Guaireña of the First Division from Paraguay, which finished seventh in the last tournament, among 12 teams. The assignment will be for one year, without charge or purchase option for the token.

The center forward had been working with the Selective commanded by Ezequiel Videla and Sebastián Grazzini. But since the duo already knew of their imminent departure, they did not use it in the two friendlies against the First Division or at the meeting this friday in front of his pair of Defense and Justice.

Nico had achieved a good performance in the Reserve with Juan Fleita as coach and that had allowed him to be summoned by Gago in 2022. Thus, he fulfilled the dream of making his debut in the First Division. It was last June, when he came on after 39 minutes of the second half, replacing Jonatan Gómez, in the game that Racing lost 3-1 to Gimnasia. In addition, he went to the bank in the 2-0 win over Vélez and in the 1-0 win against Patronato, without adding minutes.

This is how they defined Meaurio, who is going on loan to Paraguayan football from Racing

“Nico can play in the center and on the sides. He has a lot of mobility, a very good game. His technical qualities allow him to join the game,” Fleita described him in a chat with RdA. Originally from Florencio Varela, Meaurio arrived at Racing at the age of nine, in Pre-infantiles. Monchi Medina and his work group approached him and then he began to play on the field of eleven. He quickly displayed his ability and goalscoring ability. He is preferably 9, but can also act as a winger.

Meaurio will go on loan to Paraguay. In the photo, with the Cup that the Under 20s won in a friendly home run played in Uruguay.

During this year, Nicolás was summoned by Javier Mascherano to the Sub 20 Pre-Selection of Argentina. Then the Academy striker would play the home run of the category that the national team won in Uruguay. Along with him were Francisco Gómez and Agustín Ojeda, two other kids from the Academy. The goalkeeper has chances to play the 2023 South American, while Trapito is currently working with Gago’s squad.

“What happiness to be able to represent these colors. Every effort has its reward,” the Academy striker wrote on his Instagram account at the time.

When at the Tita Mattiussi Estate he made noise due to his good performances, RdA spoke with Nico in 2019 and the player revealed that Gustavo Bou is his maximum referent. And the Pantera, in New England Revolution, sent him a video through Racing de Alma.

Bou’s answer

“Hello Nico Meaurio, I’m the Panther. I want to send you a hug and I hope you are very well. I found out that you are breaking it, I congratulate you. Not to lower your arms and continue like this that everything comes in due time. Hugs! Take care. I hope to see you soon”, were Bou’s words for Meaurio, who is about to join the ranks of Guaireña from Paraguay from Racing.

In addition to Meaurio, there are other Racing players who were loaned out in this transfer market: among them, Tiago Banega (Arsenal de Sarandí) and Leandro Godoy (Uniao Torreense of the Second Division of Portugal).
