In the next three days the DIM will have to face two games. The first is the duel against Águilas Doradas, valid for the tenth date of the 2024 opening tournament, which will be played this Sunday starting at 6:10 pm, at the Atanasio Girardot stadium in Medellín.

The other will be next Tuesday, when they visit Deportes Tolima in Ibagué in the game valid for the qualifying round for the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana. That meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m.

Although one of the big objectives that the red team has for this year is to be the protagonist in the international tournament, first they have to take care of the local tournament match against the team from eastern Antioquia, in which the Poderoso is looking for a second win in a row which allows it to continue climbing the League standings, where, at the moment, it occupies 15th place with 11 points.

In addition, Medellín seeks against Águilas Doradas, who have not beaten them at the Atanasio since 2019, to extend to twenty games the undefeated record they have in the rented Creole playing at home since Alfredo Arias took over as coach of the team in July 2023. Of the The King of Hearts has not lost 19 duels, 14 have been wins and 5 have been draws.

The last time the team now led by Hernán Darío Gómez visited the Atanasio was on March 4, 2023. That day the reds won 3-0 with scores from Miguel Monsalve (today the starter), Díber Cambindo and Daniel Torres.

Follow the minute by minute of the match here:

Minute 60: So far the teams have shot at the rival’s goal 9 times. Of them, five have been from Medellín, while the remaining four were from Águilas.

Minute 55: the red box has had control of the ball so far in the second half. The players look more confident than at other times in the championship. According to statistics, Medellín has had 59% of ball possession. The golden cast appears with 41%.

Minute 50: The red team, thinking about the match they will have next Tuesday against Deportes Tolima, made a change to seek to control the game: Diego Moreno came out. Santiago Santa Cruz entered, a lanky youth from the 2005 category who plays as a central midfielder.

The second half began at the Atanasio!

The first half is over! DIM beat Águilas Doradas 1-0 at the Atanasio Girardot.

Minute 45: during the first half the red team had four under-20 players among the starting eleven. Cristian Graciano, Malcom Palacios, Juan David Arizala and Miguel Monsalve are the young people who coach Alfredo Arias gave the confidence to start against Águilas. The central judge of the match, Ararat, added four minutes of replacement.

Minute 40: The player Ánderson Plata was the figure in the red box in the first half. Not only did he score the goal that has Medellín winning, but he has also fought for the ball both in the offensive and defensive zones. He is one of those who has done the most high pressure.

Minute 35: after the red box opened the scoring, the players were seen playing with more confidence, with greater ease, touching the ball from one side to the other and putting pressure on the Águilas players when the ball was stolen from them.

Minute 29: DIM goal! Guajiro winger Ánderson Plata scored, with his left foot, the first goal for the red team in the match. He scored after more than 1,000 minutes without doing so.

Minute 25: The match was stopped for about three minutes because the Águilas Doradas defenders were protesting the decision made by the referee regarding the expulsion of Quiñones, from Águilas Doradas. Contreras, the goalkeeper of the golden team, was also reprimanded.

Minute 21: foul near the area in favor of Medellín. Striker Ménder García was knocked down by Jeison Quiñones, Águilas’ central defender. The central judge of the match expelled him because he considered that he cut off an obvious goal-scoring play.

Minute 20: The King of Cups has been intense, dominant in attack. So far in the match it seems that the Reds are showing vestiges of the level that led them to be finalists in the League in the second half of 2023. What Medellín has lacked is precision in the last touch, when approaching the goal of the rival, who has a defensive block made up of several players. DIM was also saved from conceding a mid-range goal from outside the area. The shot went wide.

Minute 15: Medellín has had control of the ball so far in the game. El Poderoso appears with 62% of control of the ball, while Águilas appears with the remaining 36%.

Minute 11: forward Ménder García, who was one of the last reinforcements of the red team, has been incisive in attack. It generated DIM’s second approach to the goal so far in the game. However, he was off base.

Minute 10: The red box increased the intensity of the game in the final minutes. First there was a play on the right wing in which Miguel Monsalve, who is playing his 64th game with DIM, and Ánderson Plata, who scored a past cross, came together. However, there was a rebound that one of the midfielders finished off from outside the area. Goalkeeper Contreras responded well.

Minute 5: in the first minutes of the match the red team tried to dominate the ball in the middle of the field with the intention of preventing them from scoring an early goal, as in other matches. Águilas has a solid defensive block at the back. The red team has tried to break that fence with long passes with which they seek to break lines.

The game has started at the Atanasio Girardot! The golden box gave the first touch of the meeting between DIM and Águilas.
