Film backdrop for the first “Soirée Médias”: In Locarno, the Swiss Media Association invited to an exclusive round with Federal Councilor Simonetta Sommaruga as guest of honour.
The Swiss Media Association (VSM) celebrated the «Soirée Médias» for the first time on Saturday as part of the 75th Locarno Film Festival.

There is reason to celebrate: Ladina Heimgartner and her colleague from the TX Group, Ursula Nötzli (47), member of the group management, will in future have a seat on the association’s executive committee. “That would make us the first two women on the board,” says Heimgartner.
In the garden of the Teatro Paravento the conditions were downright tropical, the ladies fanned themselves, at the bar an anti-humm against tiger mosquitoes was available. During the panel discussion, led by Christian Dorer (47), Editor-in-Chief of the Blick Group, with guest of honor Federal Councilor Simonetta Sommaruga (62) and screenwriter and Sunday Blick columnist Thomas Meyer (48, “Cloudburst”), serious topics were discussed in a relaxed atmosphere.

The media minister commented on the reports, according to which the Bundeshaus is now like the “House of Cards”, with humor: “I think it’s more like so often: We have some ‘corn in the Bundeshuus’.” The energy crisis is an enormous challenge and is a prime example of the need to produce more domestic energy in Switzerland and reduce dependency on other countries.
In these extraordinary times, the media would independently and critically accompany the formation of political opinions: “It must remain so in the future.” The Federal Councilor thanked her for this and emphasized: “Only if large and small, private and publicly funded players work together can the Swiss media center hold its own against the large foreign Internet platforms.”
The gathering storm clouds couldn’t dampen the mood – the 120 guests then watched the film in the Fevi Hall instead of on the piazza. “A successful premiere,” says Dorer. “Hopefully this will become a tradition.”
