Mediation on overtime for the guards

The mediation deadline expired at midnight. If the parties do not agree, there may be strikes that will affect airports, shopping centers and museums either from Saturday or from Monday.

Initially, a strike will affect the National Museum, the Museum of Natural History and the Munch Museum. Mediation takes place between Parat (YS), the Norwegian Workers’ Union (LO) and NHO Service og Handel.

– We hope it will be possible to reach a solution with the help of the National Ombudsman. Without an agreement, there will be a strike from Saturday 11 May, where the biggest museums in the capital will be affected first, says Parat’s head of negotiations Lars Petter Larsen.

Guards at the National Museum in Oslo are among those who will be called off in the event of a strike from midnight, but the visitors will not notice anything at first.

– Based on the withdrawal that has been made, there will be no consequences for our public, acting director of communications Ole-Morten Fadnes at the museum tells NTB.

In addition, almost 200 security guards at the airports in Tromsø, Trondheim, Bergen and Stavanger have been made redundant. They are employed by Avarn Security Aviation. The security guards are demanding higher wages, as well as a solution to the practice of using shift guards of only three hours.
