The State Medical Aid (AME) system for undocumented immigrants is one of the hot issues in the immigration bill, the examination of which is due to begin in the Senate in November. The right is making the abolition of the AME a major demand.

LR elected officials would like to limit it to urgent care, or at the very least significantly reduce the basket of care covered by Social Security. They highlight each year the explosion in costs linked to the AME and believe that the system, more generous than our neighbors, would create a “migratory pull” effect.
