We had a meeting between the administration of PASAP (association representing professional volleyball athletes) and the Minister of Sports Yannis Vroutsis yesterday, and the meeting had a strong paternal “colour”.
We say this because the president of PASAP Yiannis Achilleopoulos is a father and so is the general secretary Panagiotis Pelekoudas who together with the other members of the board discussed the issue of volleyball.
In the discussion, which was held in an excellent atmosphere, all the issues related to the whole of Greek volleyball were raised, as they arise from the elements of the innovative digital recording platform of sports, e-Kouros, which contributes the most for the future of sports, and by extension volleyball, organizationally, functionally and essentially.
Mr. Vroutsis was very positive in the demand for gender equality in work and insurance, through the conversion of Women’s volleyball to professional, which is proven to be the most popular team sport among women according to e-Kouros data. The platform highlighted with real data the dynamics of the sport to which the problems faced by female athletes in our country do not correspond, which underlines the need for relevant regulation and, therefore, further actions were launched in this direction.
Regarding men’s volleyball, the Minister expressed his positive attitude towards the immediate increase of Volleyleague teams, but also more broadly towards the improvement of the conditions of the Greek volleyball athlete.
The two sides agreed to capitalize on the climate of understanding and mutual understanding for the future of Greek volleyball with closer, direct and intensive cooperation in the future.
