The Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Thodoros Skylakakis, met today with the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources of China, Mr. Sun Shuxian, as announced.
The meeting is part of the bilateral contacts that Mr. Skylakakis has, on the occasion of the 9th “Our Ocean Conference”, which Greece is hosting on April 16-17, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC).
In the meeting held, according to APE-MPE, at the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the two ministers exchanged views on the cooperation of the two countries in the field of marine affairs, which is implemented mainly through joint programs of Chinese Oceanographic Institutes, with the National Center of Marine Research and the Technical University of Crete.
Offshore wind energy, wave energy, exchange of know-how on marine park management and forest protection were mentioned as promising areas of bilateral cooperation.
Finally, the Chinese Vice Minister extended an official invitation to Mr. Skylakakis to participate in an International Oceans Day Symposium on June 8, 2024, in Xiamen City.
