Ten-year-old Melina Schieferer is one of the great talents in show dancing. She made it to the podium at the World Championships.

Melina Schieferer proudly presents her numerous awards. The ten-year-old can already look back on some top results in the junior show dance competitions. This discipline combines elements of different dances. These styles can include ballet, jazz dance, modern dance, hip-hop, but also ballroom dances.

But she started with rhythmic gymnastics before switching to show dancing after a year. Melina Schieferer is following in the footsteps of her mother Stefanie, who also worked in this area.

The training at TGUS ensures top results

The ten-year-old is a member of the Gymnastics Union Salzburg, or TGUS for short, and trains four times a week at the Mitte sports center. Laura Ike is responsible for the choreographies, which are put together individually for each child. She is also looked after by Tina Ike in order to achieve optimal results at the events.

The effort has paid off in sporting terms over the past months and years. In 2021 she took second place at the Austrian Junior Championships with the solo program “Rapunzel”. Things went even better last year when she won all the competitions with her program “Poppy”. This program achieved tenth place at the World Championships last year.

Medal and move to the SSM

Things went even better at this year’s World Championships in Porec, Croatia. There, Melina Schieferer made it to the podium with her program “Homeless” and was happy about third place.

In September she took the next step in her sporting career. She switched to the Salzburg school sports model and attended the lower school of the Christian-Doppler-Gymnasium in Lehen. This gives her more time to dedicate herself to her sport and get one step closer to her next dream of winning the World Cup.
