MINISTER of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo accompanied by the General Chairperson of PP MPI (Indonesian Modern Pentathlon Central Management) Air Marshal (Marsda) TNI Purwoko Aji Prabowo released the Indonesian modern pentathlon national team to take part in international championships in South Korea (South Korea) and Thailand.
“Highest appreciation to the PP MPI management who are still new (inaugurated) but are immediately active in sending athletes to take part directly in two international championships in South Korea and Thailand. Hopefully the athletes sent will give the best achievements to make Indonesia proud and make Indonesia proud at international events,” said Menpora after his release at the PP MPI Secretariat at Ex-MBAU Pancoran, Jakarta, Sunday (7/4).
Modern pentathlon, continued the Minister of Youth and Sports, is the oldest Olympic sport which combines five branches (athletics, shooting, fencing, swimming and horse riding) so it requires super skills or qualifications to become a champion.
“But I am sure that under Marshal Purwoko Aji Prabowo, modern Indonesian pentathlon will be able to make achievements, including athletes competing in South Korea and Thailand,” said Dito at the event which was also attended by Hifni Hasan (KE KOI) and Puang Syamsuddin (KONI) as well as administrators PP MPI.
Meanwhile, Purwoko targets that the departing national team will achieve glory to make Indonesia proud.
“The national team that departs are the best athletes selected through selection,” said Purwoko. “So I am optimistic that they will fight it out to achieve the best results,” he said.

Caroline Andita Bangun and Samuel Christian Matulatuwa expressed a similar determination, who will appear in South Korea and Thailand. Both of them set their target to reach the podium.
“The target is to reach the podium,” said Caroline. “Even though the opponents from South Korea, China and Japan are quite tough and they do have more flying hours. But I will try as hard as I can to get on the podium,” he continued.
