The fourth edition of the Men’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL) started last June 6 and will culminate until on July 23, with offices in Ottawa (Canada), Nagoya (Japan), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Orleans (France), Anaheim (United States) and Pasay City (Philippines).
Among the favorite countries to raise the cup is France, Olympic volleyball champion Tokio 2020; USA (runner-up in 2019 and 2022) who is currently in second place in the standings; Italy, current world and European champion and Polandthe number one team in the world ranking.
Some of the players to watch during the international competition are the Poles Tomasz Fornal (silver medal in the World Championship 2022) y Kamil Semeniukwho attended the Olympic Games of Tokio 2020, a silver medalist at the 2022 World Championships and a two-time winner of the European Champions League. The Americans are not far behind, as they have the middle blocker Max Holt y Micah Christensonwho was the best setter of the 2022 FIVB Nations League.
What is the format of the Men’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL) like?
The men’s tournament follows exactly the same structure as the women’s competition: 16 teams They are divided into two groups, which are reorganized in each of the three weekly phases. The top eight teams in the standings at the end of the preliminary group stage will advance to the final round.
The draw for the round of 16 (quarterfinals, semifinals, final) will be determined by the ranking of the teams. Poland qualify automatically for the Finals as host country. The final round will take place from July 19 to 23 at Gdansk, Poland. It will be on Sunday July 23 when the new champion of the specialty is known.
