The e-commerce platform Mercado Livre received the National Award for Combating Piracy, in a ceremony held during the first meeting of 2024 of the National Council for Combating Piracy (CNCP), an organization of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.
Mercado Livre was the only private company recognized in the 2023 cycle for its performance, investment and transparency in its work aimed at the security of its platform, millions of users and the brands that make up its assortment.
The company highlighted that the recognition was unprecedented for the brand and an important step in encouraging the promotion of the integrity and development of e-commerce in Brazil. Since 2021, Mercado Livre has been a signatory to the Council’s Anti-Piracy Guide.
The highlight was the company’s Brand Protection Program (BPP), which uses artificial intelligence and automated technology to combat counterfeiting and piracy in Latin America, in addition to work on the Anti-Counterfeiting Alliance and public-private collaboration agreements.
“We made several investments in technology and security, as part of this active and constant work to combat piracy. The award recognizes this journey and our commitment to the topic, which makes us very proud”, celebrated the senior legal director of Mercado Livre in Latin America, Federico Deyá.
In August 2021, Mercado Livre adhered to the CNCP Anti-Piracy Guide, which brings together good practices and guidelines from the Ministry of Justice and for preventive initiatives and combating intellectual property violations. Since then, the platform says it has intensified its efforts to combat piracy.
