Internationalization and growing turnover for Mercato Centrale, the holding led by Umberto Montano which creates and manages spaces dedicated to catering in highly frequented places such as markets and stations in Florence, Milan, Rome, Turin and in the Campi Bisenzio shopping center . 2023 ended with a turnover of 77 million with a +30% on the previous year and around 14 million admissions, the budget for the current year is 87 million (+13%) with 2 million investments already planned while in the short term we want to bring the format abroad. In the autumn the landing in Australia, to be precise in Melbourne, capital of the federal state of Victoria, in the south-east of Australia, thanks to the partnership with the entrepreneur Eddie Muto, owner of the Barman & Larder Group and known in Australia for having launched several hospitality and catering format. The space will develop over an area of ​​5 thousand square meters and will host a selected group of artisans, including Italians, who will prepare local and non-local dishes and specialities. There will be a restaurant, a Neapolitan pizzeria, a distillery as well as 18 artisan shops and a multifunctional space intended to host events. The arrival of Mercato Centrale in Australia represents a test, a taste of the potential that the format can have on the continent and potentially in the Far East.

In spring 2025 it will be the turn of the inauguration of Mercato Centrale in Bolzano, inside the Waltherpark, the large redevelopment project signed by star architect David Chipperfield between the train station and the historic center of the South Tyrolean capital, which will host apartments, commercial spaces , offices and a hotel. With a surface area of ​​approximately 4,000 square meters and a terrace overlooking the Dolomites, the new Bolzano Central Market will host 15 artisan shops, as well as an artisanal brewery, a wine shop with high territorial value, a dairy all to be told, a restaurant and a pizzeria. The search and selection of artisans is currently underway. The spaces in Bolzano represent the springboard towards the markets of the DACH area (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). Experimental formats that will be added to the Banchi del Mercato Centrale, designed for the retail sector and opened in the I Gigli shopping center in Campi Bisenzio near Florence.

Ten years after its debut, the format takes the path of internationalization but also looks at the results obtained. Currently, over 100 artisan workshops operate within the five markets while the direct and indirect staff numbers 1,200 people. To celebrate the anniversary, each of the four markets will host a series of events, parties and DJ sets but also masterclasses, show cooking, talks, tastings and workshops in the shops and cultural events.
