Merksem: about thirty inhabitants receive a letter containing a casing

Thirty residents of Merksem (outskirts of Antwerp), living in the Patrijsstraat, received Saturday morning in their mailbox a letter containing a bullet. A street dweller is likely to be the target of threats and local residents would also be intimidated in order to exert additional pressure. The federal police and the prosecutor’s office are investigating.

In addition to the letters containing a casing, a suitcase abandoned in the neighborhood was examined by the mine clearance service of the army (Sedee), said the Antwerp police.

An investigating judge has been appointed to lead the investigation into threats and intimidation.
